Philips Entertainment announced today the retirement of Specification Sales Manager Alan Kibbe. With a career spanning more than 40 years, Kibbe is well-known and highly-respected within the theatre, architectural lighting, and acoustic consulting communities. He now steps down to spend more time with his wife and family from his home in Connecticut.
“I have been remarkably fortunate in the opportunities I’ve had throughout my career,” said Kibbe. “I’ve been mentored by some of the finest people in our industry, had the opportunity to work with outstanding producing organizations, institutions, and manufacturers, and become close friends with so many talented and dedicated individuals. I have truly enjoyed working in this industry, and I want to say ‘thank you’ to those who have helped me along the way.”
As a graduate of Dartmouth College and Yale School of Drama, Alan Kibbe has worked professionally as a lighting designer or technical director at the Yale Repertory Theatre, the Santa Fe Opera, the Kansas City Lyric Opera, and the Missouri Repertory Theatre. He was the first chairperson of the Theatre Design and Technology training program at the College at Purchase, has been Principal Consultant for Theatre Technology at Theatre Projects Consultants, served as National Sales Manager at Rosco Laboratories, Regional Sales Manager at Philips Vari-Lite, and now retires as the Specification Sales Manager with Philips Entertainment.
“Having Alan, the industry-professional, on our team has been a tremendous asset to Philips Entertainment,” added Julie Smith, General Manager of the Americas. “But more importantly, having the opportunity to get to know Alan, the person, has been a far greater experience. He is a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, and he is an invaluable resource of industry knowledge who will be missed.”
