Miami Road Show

At the Miami Road Show, Philips Vari-Lite made stops at both the South Dade Cultural Center and the Studio at Mizner Park.  Partnering with Philips Strand Lighting and Philips Selecon, as well as dealers Barbizon and SEAL, we had a great time showcasing the power and performance of all our VARI-LITE luminaires.

ILC gives back to Behind The Scenes

At the Hilton Indian Lakes Resort, Intelligent Lighting Creations (ILC) hosted a charity golf event benefiting Behind The Scenes which provides financial support to entertainment technology industry professionals when they are ill or injured. Philips Vari-Lite was proud to be on-hand to help sponsor the event which raised a total of $5,064.70 for the foundation to which Bob Moisan, VP of Sales and Marketing at ILC, commented “ILC is very fortunate to have customers and vendors that were willing to support Behind the Scenes with us. It was a great time for a great cause and we have already started planning for 2013!”

InfoComm 2012

At InfoComm 2012, Philips Vari-Lite provided all the automated luminaires for the ‘Technology for Worship Magazine’ Pavilion and Stage and the show was a complete success. Thank you to all the crew members and technicians who helped put together a great show.

Nashville Road Show

At the Nashville Road Show, Philips Vari-Lite, Philips Strand Lighting and Philips Selecon hosted a day of new product demonstrations at Soundcheck Nashville. Joined by several dealers in the area including Bandit Lites, Stagelight, TLS, 4Wall, LMG, and Morris Light & Sound, the event was a complete success filled with lots of food, fun, and VARI-LITE luminaires.

Lego at ILC

While conducting a training at ILC in Chicago, Todd Kessler came across something we had never seen before...introducing Lego the first Vari-Lite Certified Hot Dog!

Kinetic Lighting Open House

At the recent Kinetic Lighting Open House, the 4th annual event, held in Glendale, CA was a rousing success. Filled with panel discussions, training sessions, and raffles, David Rosen commented "By any measured variable, our 2012 open house was the best yet. Turnout was the highest we’ve had. Attendees’ response was the most spirited we’ve heard. The setup looked incredible. And while many of our clients and friends attended, there were a lot of new faces present, too." One of those new faces was the VL880 Spot luminaire which was displayed along with the VL3500 Spot, VL3500 Wash, and VL3000 Spot luminaires. Added Rosen, "All the VARI*LITE fixtures received a great response, especially the VL880 Spot.

On the current Andrew Bird "Break It Yourself" tour, LD Ryan Patrick Murphy sends in a shot from his view behind the console. In his design he is using 10 VL440 Spot luminaires to bring his shadow-play design to life.

2012 North & South American Dealer Summit

At the 2012 North & South American Dealer Summit, we had a great time with all our dealers in attendance. During the Summit, we conducted open discussions and new product demonstrations that featured the VL440 Spot, VL770 Spot, VL880 Spot, VLX3 Wash, plus our new 1500W fixtures in the VL3015, VL3515, and VL3015LT Spot luminaires. Thank you very much to Steve Woods and his production team at SMU for allowing us to host the Dealer Summit at the Owen Arts Center and for all their assistance during load-in and tech.  At the conclusion of the day, we hosted a relaxing, evening dinner at the historic Filter House on the shores of White Rock Lake full of good 'ol Texas BBQ.

Pan Tilt and the VL880 Spot Luminaire

Working with DWR Distribution, rental company Pan Tilt has taken ownership of 12 VL880 Spot luminaires, the first of these fixtures available for rent in Africa. Kurt du Preez, owner of Pan Tilt, admits that while he was a little concerned when he saw the size of the fixtures, this soon changed when he turned them on. “They were so bright and the size of the beam is incredible.”  So far, Pan Tilt has used the lights on corporate gigs to wallpaper the venue with gobo designs and rich color, and the fixtures were also used recently for audience lighting as well.

Technical Training with Morris Light & Sound

Philips Vari-Lite Technical Trainer Todd Kessler is at it again. This time he visited Morris Light & Sound in Murfreesboro, TN, to train their technicians on the latest VARI*LITE luminaires.
