DALLAS - Feb. 20, 2004 - London's famed Royal Shakespeare Company recently added nine VARI*LITE® VL1000™TS luminaries to The Swan Theatre in Stratford upon Avon. The tungsten units will hang inside the Elizabethan style space as a permanent addition to the rig.

"The VL1000 units offer a broad appeal for us, not only as excellent versatile specials but for more delicate moving effects," said Swan Theatre lighting supervisor Wayne Dowdeswell,. "It is vital that any fixtures we hang are totally silent, as the audience sits with just a few feet of the rig in our theater space."

The Royal Shakespeare Company has previously used VL1000 luminaires in a number of productions. These are the first units the group has purchased. The fixtures were supplied by VLPS Lighting Services in London, the master distributor of VARI*LITE automated lighting equipment in Europe.

"The VL1000 fixtures offer an outstanding value, which was a key factor in our decision," Dowdeswell said.
