Over five weekends during the summer, the National Theatre hosted the outdoor River Stage Festival. Showline helped bring performances to life and made it a summer to remember.
The pop-up River Stage Festival is an eclectic series of stage, dance, spoken-word and comedy performances. The National Theatre chose luminaries solely from the Showline range to illuminate the main stage and performance areas: “We were like kids in a candy shop!” says Huw Llewellyn, NT Lighting Designer.
The Showline products are IP65-rated, making them ideal for the unpredictable British summer weather. And because they’re predominantly LED, they’re highly cost and energy efficient – the entire rig was run off a 63A 3 Phase power supply.
“Signify has been a valued partner of the National Theatre for some time,” says Paul Hornsby, NT Resources Manager. “The support we’ve received for the River Stage this year enabled us to create a truly special event with state-of-the-art technology for people from far and wide to enjoy. Not only that, trying out new fixtures that we can evaluate in a real-time environment is very helpful. At the National Theatre, we are always looking to invest in equipment across all three venues. Many of the Showline fixtures on River Stage would translate very well over to our permanent theaters.”
